How Signing Up for a Bootcamp With Coding Dojo Works

Coding Dojo Q&A

To enroll at Coding Dojo, students first have the option to schedule a Q&A call with an admissions representative to get any outstanding questions answered. Students can also attend a virtual Open House to learn more about Coding Dojo and the bootcamps they offer.

Coding Dojo Application page

Once a student is ready to apply, they must complete the online application on the Coding Dojo website. The application is free to submit and only takes two minutes to complete. Students can easily access the application through any bootcamp’s web page by clicking “Apply Now” near the top right-hand corner of the screen.

Basic Personal Info fields

The first page asks for basic information, including the student’s full name, email address, phone number, and zip code. In addition, students must select their program of interest, Software Development, Data Science or Cybersecurity.

Program Selection

Students interested in Software Development must select which enrollment option they are interested in attending. Since Data Science and Cybersecurity are only offered as part-time programs, students interested in these bootcamps can skip this screen.

Confirm Cohort Details

The next screen asks the applicant to confirm their cohort details. Next, prospective students must select their intended start date, although they can change it at any time. In addition, students will answer basic questions about their employment and education history.

Schedule Your Interview

Next, prospective students can schedule a 30-minute phone interview with an admissions team member. During the interview, the admissions counselor will ask questions to assess the applicant’s interest in the program and career goals. If the interview is successful, the admissions counselor will extend an offer of admission, and students can submit an enrollment deposit of $500 to secure their spot.

Coding Dojo Tuition Overview

Coding Dojo offers various payment options to make its programs accessible and affordable. For example, students can pay their tuition in full and upfront for a discounted rate or opt for monthly, interest-free installments. Other payment options include financing through one of Coding Dojo’s financial partners or participating in an Income Share Agreement (ISA).

Students who choose to finance their education with a Coding Dojo financial partner are likely to incur interest rates and may need to make interest-only payments while attending the program. Those who opt for the ISA pay a percentage of their income to Coding Dojo for a set period.

A Typical Week at Coding Dojo

While all Coding Dojo bootcamps provide a comprehensive learning experience, schedules will differ depending on whether enrollment is part- or full-time.

Students who enroll in the full-time Software Development bootcamp will have the most immersive experience. Full-time students must devote 70-90 hours a week to their studies to be successful. For example, a typical day might involve a morning spent learning coding concepts through lectures and group discussion and an afternoon of interactive learning activities, like coding labs and breakout sessions. In the evening, students are expected to study independently.

Part-time bootcamps have a more flexible schedule. Students still participate in live lectures and class discussions during weekday evenings. A typical week might involve a live review of concepts learned the week prior, with the rest of the week devoted to lectures on new ideas. In addition to time spent in class, students are expected to spend 10-30 hours per week engaging in self-study.

While part-time bootcamps require more independent learning, Coding Dojo offers daily TA support to assist students should they need additional help.

Additional Features

Scholarships

Coding Dojo offers various scholarships for students in need and has awarded over $13 million in scholarships to underserved communities since 2012. Categories include Career Reinvention, Women in Tech, Diversity, Military Re-training, and Fresh Start. To be considered, interested students must submit a 300-word essay detailing their reason for applying and their goals for attending the program.

Outcomes transparency

Coding Dojo recognizes that students should have access to outcomes information to ensure that they’re making the right decision for their career and provides this information annually on their website. Prospective students can easily download job placement data and salary information from the year prior and Coding Dojo’s vision for the year ahead.

What We Like About Coding Dojo

Lifetime career support

Compared to other tech bootcamps, Coding Dojo provides each graduate with career support that never expires. During the bootcamp, students learn how to build a professional portfolio, design an effective resume, and optimize their LinkedIn profiles. After the program, Coding Dojo provides additional career services, including contract negotiation, interview prep, and technical skills tests, to assist students for as long as they need.

Various enrollment options

For its Software Development bootcamps, Coding Dojo provides various part- and full-time enrollment options. Students seeking an immersive experience can enroll in Software Development full-time, while those who need more flexibility can enroll in one of two part-time options, Accelerated and Flex. This feature makes education in coding accessible to virtually anyone interested in the program.

Beginner-friendly curriculum

All Coding Dojo bootcamps feature a beginner-friendly curriculum, with as much as 70-80% of students beginning the program without prior experience. In addition, many bootcamps offer 2-4 weeks of fundamental education before moving on to more advanced concepts, ensuring a comprehensive education regardless of previous knowledge.

What We Don’t Like About Coding Dojo

Limited financing options

Coding Dojo’s Income Share Agreement (ISA) enrollment is limited to the full-time Software Development bootcamp. Since other Coding Dojo bootcamps are not eligible for an ISA, students who enroll part-time must opt for other payment options, like paying in full, in installments, or financing their education through a Coding Dojo financial partner.

No job guarantee

Unlike other tech bootcamps, Coding Dojo does not provide tuition reimbursement or a job guarantee. Students should carefully review the Outcomes Report on their website before enrollment to make sure they are making the best decision for their financial future. While enrolled in the program, Coding Dojo encourages students to use its unlimited career services to ensure the best employment opportunity after the program.
