How Signing Up For a Bootcamp With Fullstack Academy Works

Before signing up, Fullstack Academy offers various free prep courses to help students choose the best program for them. Options include Intro to Coding, Bootcamp Prep for Intermediate Coders, Intro to Cyber, Intermediate Cyber Prep, and Intro to Product Management. Participating in a prep course is optional but can be a useful, cost-free option for those still deciding between bootcamps.

To apply for any bootcamp, prospective students can submit an application on the Fullstack Academy website. The first page asks for basic identifying information, like the student’s full name, phone number, and email address. Students can also specify what program they are interested in and whether they prefer full- or part-time enrollment.

Next, students must specify their preferred cohort dates, class times, and experience level in their program of interest.

The following screen asks for the student’s date of birth, gender identity, and U.S. citizenship status. For U.S. citizens, an additional field will appear for the student to select their state and give their zip code. This information will let Fullstack Academy know if it is authorized to operate in your state.

To continue, students must indicate whether they are military veterans or active military. Those who are may qualify for an automatic $1,000 scholarship.

The following screen asks for the student’s highest education level and allows the option to upload transcripts or a high school diploma.

To finish their application, students must submit a 250-word written response to the given prompt. Note that this writing sample will be evaluated for grammar, vocabulary, and clarity of thought, so it is essential to spend some time crafting a response.

After applying, applicants can access a multiple-choice timed assessment. This placement test will help the admissions team assess which program is the best fit for the student and takes 30 minutes to complete.

Students applying to a coding program will be asked to schedule a 45-minute interview with a Fullstack instructor or graduate. The interview will help determine the applicant’s behavioral and technical skills to ensure that they are placed in the correct program and that Fullstack is the right program for them.

Fullstack Academy Tuition Overview

Fullstack Academy offers various payment options to make their bootcamps accessible. Students can pay their tuition upfront and in full with a personal loan, apply for a scholarship, or use their veteran’s benefits. All students must make an initial deposit at the time of enrollment, with the remaining balance due one week before the cohort start date. Typically, the enrollment deposit is $2,000 but has been reduced to $99 for a limited time.

Although Fullstack accepts personal loans for tuition payments, it does not endorse or recommend any particular lender. Those seeking a loan are encouraged to conduct thorough research to ensure they make the best financial decision for their future.

Fullstack Academy offers various full and partial scholarships for women, military vets, and other underrepresented communities in tech. Interested students can request more information on the Fullstack website to assess their different scholarship options.

Lastly, Fullstack Academy is proud to accept veterans’ benefits for tuition payments. Veterans can use VET TEC and VRRAP funding to pay for any Fullstack bootcamp and can contact their local VA office for more information.

A Typical Week at Fullstack Academy

A typical week at Fullstack Academy differs depending on whether the student is enrolled in a part- or full-time program.

Full-time students can expect to start each day with a self-led review of any notes or relevant learning materials to prepare for the day ahead. Soon after, the day will begin with a short lecture from a Fullstack instructor, followed by any necessary content demonstrations. Then, students may break into groups for a workshop based on the day’s lesson — coding students will engage in pair programming, whereas students in other programs will work together on relevant group projects.

Students are given a 90-minute lunch and fitness break each day to re-energize for the afternoon. After the break, instructors may provide an additional lecture, or students may continue working on their workshop from earlier in the day. Instructors and teaching mentors are available during this time to review code (if applicable) and answer student questions.

Part-time students attend live lectures on weekday evenings, typically on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Students can expect the same lessons and workshops for a shorter period per day. This schedule is an excellent option for anyone with a full-time job or other significant responsibilities.

Additional Features

Project-based curriculum

Each Fullstack Academy bootcamp features a project-based curriculum. Whether they are enrolled in coding, cybersecurity, data analytics, or product management, every graduate will complete the program with a professional portfolio of unique projects. This feature makes Fullstack graduates competitive hires and will help them stand out in the job market.

Extensive career prep

In addition to a professional portfolio, Fullstack Academy’s career support services go the extra mile by helping students prepare a strong GitHub portfolio and resume and optimizing their LinkedIn profiles. Throughout the program, students are encouraged to meet with Fullstack’s team of career coaches for technical and behavioral interview practice and prep.

What We Like About Fullstack Academy

Flexible enrollment options

Most Fullstack Academy bootcamps offer options for both part- and full-time enrollment. This feature allows students, regardless of other commitments, to enroll in a bootcamp that suits their needs. In addition, because all bootcamps feature the same curriculum and offer live lectures and interactive lessons, all students receive the same high-quality education regardless of enrollment status. Fullstack also offers frequent cohort start dates throughout the year, so interested students can join at a time that works best for them.

Experienced instructors

All Fullstack instructors and mentors are industry-leading professionals passionate about the growth and development of their field. Students learn from those who have programmed small- and large-scale projects, worked for decades in their respective industries, and are experienced teachers.

What We Don’t Like About Fullstack Academy

Limited payment options

Unlike other tech bootcamps, Fullstack Academy does not offer monthly installments, a deferred tuition repayment plan, or the option to enroll in an income share agreement. Although Fullstack does provide an opportunity to pay through a personal loan and various scholarships, its otherwise limited payment options might discourage some students from enrolling in a bootcamp. Students seeking more flexible payment options should look elsewhere.
